    You think Micheal Garibaldi is ruthless now, there's a far far in the future clip, where Evil Government agents make Holograms of Garibaldi, Delenn, Sheridan, and one other, Where their full sentient with full data base profile on the four, they talk and act like the four. long after the originals are Dead. Evil Agents going to use them to discredit the Aliance, But the Micheal Garibaldi Hologram is as smart as the original and outsmarts the Evil Government agents has them eliminate and their organization.

      I was a Star Trek fanboy all my life, three decades and some change of it. I recently completed a complete run of all B5 video media there is, and can say with honestly, B5 climbed to the top of my sci-fi favorites list. I'd encourage anyone even mildly curious to give it another try.

    Garibaldi mentions some kind of settlement or base at Syria Planum. Interestingly, the location on Mars known as Syria Planum is real and is literally a plain named after Syria. Furthermore, the name of the country Syria means “bright sun,” an extremely appropriate name for a place on Mars. However, at night, the temperature on Mars can reach negative 100 degrees Fahrenheit or even lower. It has been suggested that unless technology and investment reach the point where desertification can be stopped or even reversed anywhere on Earth, especially in North Africa and the Middle East, then nobody should consider building large colonies on Mars. Until deserts can be held back at will on Earth, Mars may be too dangerous and inhospitable for humans to settle, except perhaps for a few small scientific bases.

    • @patrickschulz2193
      @patrickschulz2193 6 дней назад

      FWIW, it's suggested that the majority of human settlements on Mars are insided domed habitats, so perhaps those have tech to counter the environmental factors.

    I have no idea why JMS thought this was a good idea. Earth was just coming out of a civil war, where many even among the victors felt Sheridan's way was hasty - that the outright war left them weak and vulnerable to aliens. The losing side believed Sheridan was under the influence of aliens, in particular Delenn. So what do they do? Sheridan steps down, as per the deal he made with the new Earth president - but then he has a delegation of aliens with him who wish to make a speech on the occasion. Why? This was an Earth conflict, a civil war, a conflict where John had tried to keep aliens out as much as possible because of the bad optics. And from Earth's perspective, they would have no interest in alien input anyway. So aliens are giving a victory speech now? Maybe Clark was right after all 🤔 Worse still, when Delenn speaks, there's a power demonstration with a huge Ranger fleet of White Stars doing a fly-by, as she talks about the new alliance that she invites Earth to join. Oh god. How is this going to look? "Oh, the fleet is completely neutral, honest, and will be used for your protection - if you join. No, even if you join you will not get any White Star ships, they will not be under your command at all - but they're completely neutral, honest to god. And as you see, you certainly don't want to be on the _wrong_ side of this fleet." From Earth's perspective, this must have seemed as a threat and an ultimatum. Those who wished to court martial Sheridan would be proven right: "See, now we are completely vulnerable and defenceless to alien forces, and they are taking advantage of it". And those who had sided with Clark were likewise vindicated: "See, that's what we've been warning against all along!" Now, none of this is unrealistic. But JMS clearly wants us to think of Delenn as benevolent and wise; that this new alliance, that's the side of the _good_ guys. But in point of fact this is a protection racket at best, and an overture to a hostile takeover at worst.

    From 2009 to 2020, my dear hometown of Ålesund in Norway had a second-hand shop, where visitors and customers could buy various books, magazines, films, records, CDs, etc. without paying dearly for the goods. It was in that second-hand shop I bought all 5 seasons of Babylon 5 and the movies, which I did in 2016/2017 ☺

    Tessa Holloran, also known as Number One, is a recurring fictional character in the television series Babylon 5, and was portrayed by American actress Marjorie Monaghan. On the show, Number One was initially the leader of the resistance movement on Mars and later became head of covert intelligence for the Interstellar Alliance. During the time frame Babylon 5 takes place, Mars was a human space colony seeking (at times violently) independence from the Earth Alliance, and the issues on the red planet were story elements throughout the Babylon 5 series

    Such good writing. I remember Patricia Talman recounting a conversation with a certain DS9 actor who wished her luck with her acting role on B5. The Gal given the only reason DS9 exists at all, is cause Paramount stole huge sections of JMS's bible when he was trying to get them to produce Babylon 5.
